Set sail !

You have an excellent starting point for powerboating, sailing, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding. You can cruise north toward Wiscasset Harbor or proceed south through the Sheepscot River into Sheepscot Bay and the open Atlantic. At moderate cruising speed, you can reach the open ocean in 30 – 60 minutes by powerboat, depending on the vessel, tide and conditions.

Longer outings can include Southport, Boothbay Harbor, Five Islands, Georgetown and nearby coastal islands. The Sheepscot also connects with the Back and Sasanoa rivers, opening access to an extensive network of sheltered waterways and the Kennebec River.

The shoreline near Rum Cove contains protected coves, wooded banks and rocky points suitable for kayaking and leisurely exploration. Seasonal fishing opportunities include striped bass, mackerel and other coastal species, subject to Maine fisheries regulations. Count on it - at some point you’ll be sure to see bald eagles, ospreys, seals, porpoises, herons and other wildlife!
